CLT rib panels in fire

Summary

CLT rib panels made from CLT panels and glued-laminated (glulam) ribs are rigidly bonded to each other by means of screw-glue application. They enable long span floors and roof structures and provide more flexible and attractive layouts.
The overall aim is to develop design rules for the fire situation, since such timber elements are currently not covered in standards. The fire resistance behaviour will be described using the terminology of the European design standard for timber structures (Eurocode 5) with respect to the actual geometry, material, its combination and adhesives used. The main tools for the development of the design rules are fire resistance tests in full and small scale and thermal and mechanical simulations.
