Abstract

Timber-concrete composite (TCC) slabs have been used in timber construction in Switzerland for some years. The connection between timber and concrete can be realized differently, i.e. with screws, dowels or notches. The pouring of concrete is often proceeded on site.

Two possibilities to optimize the performance and production of TCC slabs with Brettstapel elements are investigated in this research:

  • Aim 1: Continuous shear transfer by interlocking with micro notches, no additional fasteners.
  • Aim 2: Superelevation of the timber elements by expansive mortar, allowing concreting without additional support.
