Performance based seismic design for timber structures in regions of low and moderate seismicity

Abstract

Bild_Peric

This project deals with performance-based seismic design for low-, middle- and high-rise timber structures. The aim of the research is to study the structural behaviour of lateral load resisting systems and to develop experimentally and numerically based calculation models to design an appropriate lateral load resisting system depending on seismic hazard level and height of the timber structure. The range of the use of standard LFTW in terms of both seismicity hazard level and height of the structure should be estimated more precisely. In addition, the efficiency of post-tensioned timber walls with and without energy dissipaters will be investigated for Swiss conditions in terms of risk reduction and production and installation costs.
